BAS.MY Begins Operations in Kota Kinabalu

3 April 2025, Kota Kinabalu:  BAS.MY has officially commenced operations in Kota Kinabalu on 1 April 2025, marking an important milestone in enhancing urban mobility and delivering a more efficient, modern, and comfortable travel experience for residents and visitors in Sabah’s capital.

As part of this launch, BAS.MY Kota Kinabalu is introducing two new routes, S01 and S05, aimed at expanding service coverage and improving accessibility across key areas. Route S01 connects KK Sentral to One Borneo, while Route S05 operates from KK Sentral to the Central Business District, covering major roads such as Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen and extending to the Likas area.

A fleet of 10 modern buses has been deployed to be on the road with one standby bus to support current operations. These buses are designed to accommodate more passengers while ensuring safer, smoother, and more comfortable journeys. Key features include air-conditioning, cashless ticketing payment systems, wheelchair accessibility, and ergonomic modern seating arrangements.

In conjunction with the service rollout, a temporary Jaguh Bayu counter has been set up at KK Sentral, operating daily from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This counter serves as an information and registration point for passengers transitioning to cashless payment options. Services available include:

  • Registration for Concession Cards (Kad Konsesi)
  • Purchase of 30-Day Passes (Kad 30 Hari)
  • Information and future registration for the ManjaLink Card (expected to be rolled out soon)

The upcoming Manjalink Card will further enhance convenience by providing additional seamless and user-friendly cashless payment solution for passengers across various categories.

BAS.MY Kota Kinabalu remains committed to continuously improving service quality while supporting the development of a sustainable and inclusive public transportation system that meets the needs of the local community.

This initiative is implemented under the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) Programme by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, and is overseen by the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) Sabah.
